Leeds United are up against Chelsea next at Stamford Bridge after a crucial victory against Nottingham Forest in their last outing.

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior has signalled the likely return of club captain Reece James for Tuesday night’s clash. James missed Chelsea’s win at Wolves with what Rosenior described as a “pain management issue,” but his status has quickly changed. “He’s so close. He should be fit for Tuesday,” Rosenior confirmed.
However, Chelsea’s team news is not all bad for the visitors. While James may return, the Blues are dealing with a defensive injury crisis that strips away their stability.
Chelsea without key players going into Leeds clash
Given the result of the reverse fixture between Leeds and Chelsea, with Daniel Farke’s men demolishing them at Elland Road, there are plenty of reasons for the Whites to be confident as they travel down to London, with Chelsea’s injury woes only giving United further confidence.
Key centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo remains ruled out with a thigh injury for Chelsea. Another central defender, Levi Colwill, is a long-term absentee, with Rosenior careful not to “make promises that I can’t keep” about his season return.
Further forward, the crafty winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is out with a hamstring tear, and midfielder Romeo Lavia remains sidelined. This collection of absences, particularly in central defence, leaves Chelsea potentially vulnerable. Their clean sheet record is poor, and Leeds’ in-form forwards will look to exploit any disorganisation.

Historic data suggests Leeds are the favourites against Chelsea
Although Leeds have enjoyed some memorable results against their bitter rivals at Elland Road in recent years, the rise of Chelsea as a club has seen them turn into one of the most dominant clubs in English football over the last couple of decades.
Despite this, Leeds still hold the advantage in head-to-head meetings with Chelsea.
