Arsenal have now entered the race to sign a Premier League star, but his club are set to hold out for a huge asking price.
Gunners keen on signing new forward
Manchester City kept the pressure on the Gunners by securing a late win at Anfield on Sunday, with Erling Haaland scoring the winner from the penalty spot, and Roy Keane has suggested the result could have big ramifications by the end of the season.
Keane said: "It's more than three points. Psychologically it's a big lift - and a bit of a hammer blow for Arsenal. They still have a nice lead but to see City go a goal down... and then for them to get three points, huge."
With Mikel Arteta's side still six points clear at the summit, there is certainly no reason to panic, but Man City's experience in these situations could serve them well, having won six Premier League titles during the Pep Guardiola era.
The north Londoners boosted their title aspirations by investing heavily last summer, strengthening their forward line by signing Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres, with the latter bagging a brace in the 3-0 victory against Sunderland at the weekend.
However, according to a report from Caught Offside, Arsenal remain keen on strengthening their forward options, and they have now entered the race to sign Everton star Iliman Ndiaye, although there could be stiff competition, with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester United also keen.
Not only that, but the Toffees are set to hold out for a huge transfer fee, with David Moyes' side looking to receive €65m - €75m (£57m - £65m), so the Gunners will have to spend big to get a deal done.

With Ndiaye under contract until 2029, Everton hold all the cards, but if Arteta's side manage to get a deal over the line, he could be an excellent addition to the squad...
Ndiaye could be ready for big move
Scout Ben Mattinson has been of the belief the Senegal international could be ready to test himself at a 'big six' club for quite some time, having taken to X to praise him a little over a year ago.
The former Sheffield United man has been a reliable source of goals and assists throughout his time in England, while also catching the eye on occasion during his time with Marseille.
Iliman Ndiaye's attacking record Appearances Goal involvements
Everton 58 17
Sheffield United 88 36
Marseille 46 9
That said, Arsenal have plenty of options in forward areas, with Madueke proving his worth by scoring and assisting in the 4-0 victory against Leeds United at the end of January.
As such, while Ndiaye may have the talent to flourish at the Emirates Stadium, the Everton star may not be a necessary addition to Arteta's squad, unless there are any departures.
