In September, Sport Witness covered Juventus’ interest in Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.
There was confidence the Bianconeri were looking to sign the Portugal international on a free transfer in 2026 and possibly replicate Napoli’s move for Kevin De Bruyne. A plan was being prepared in Turin, amidst uncertainty about the player’s future at the Etihad.
Months have passed, and there’s no signs Bernardo Silva will be committing himself to a long stay at the Etihad.
This has encouraged interest in the 31-year-old to grow, and that’s the case in Turin.
Calciomercato IT report Juventus are awaiting the versatile midfielder’s final decision about his Manchester City future.
The Bianconeri have been in touch with his entourage, and are expecting Silva to make a final decision about his future in the ‘coming weeks’.
Juve, as a result, have prepared a two-year deal for the Portugal international.
Bernardo Silva is seen as a better free transfer option than Franck Kessie. The Ivory Coast international earns a huge salary and a return to Italy would require a major sacrifice of his wage.
Besides, Silva is playing regularly at the highest level. He has played 34 times in all competitions for Manchester City this season. Apart from playing in midfield, he has also operated on the right-wing, showcasing trademark versatility.
That is perhaps why he would be a much better option for Juve than Kessie. On top of that, Silva is 31 and probably still has a lot to give in Europe.
