Big free agent bung required–Tottenham and Chelsea hover for big signing

Sport Witness have in recent days covered Newcastle United making contact for Dusan Vlahovic. With the striker’s contract running out in the summer, Tottenham and Chelsea are emerging as frontrunners for his signature.

The Serbian hasn’t played in Serie A since the end of November due to an adductor injury. He is expected to return in March and despite his fitness issues, the forward is very much in demand.

Carlo Pellegatti brings the latest on the 26-year-old, with Tottenham and Chelsea in pole position. In general, English clubs should have an advantage over AC Milan due to the financials around a deal for Vlahovic.

Pellegatti said – relayed by IlMilanista: “Chelsea and Tottenham, and therefore England, could be in pole position for Dusan Vlahovic’s future.”

Vlahovic is asking for a signing-on fee and his entourage also want major commission.

“I’m not surprised, because his agent’s commission demands are very high. He himself wants a signing bonus. The financial negotiations are very complicated and, in my opinion, excessive for Milan at this time.

“Giorgio Furlani buys players up to €30m, but above that he needs a countersignature. This is why Vlahovic, also for this reason, is more complicated than expected.”

This should come as good news for Tottenham and Chelsea. Despite the financials remaining high, Juventus will not require a transfer fee due to Vlahovic’s contract situation.

Tottenham and Chelsea interest makes sense

The Serbia international is a proven goalscorer. Even if he hasn’t risen to expectations in Turin, he has 64 goals in 162 appearances for the Bianconeri.

This season, he’s scored eight times and assisted twice in less than 900 minutes. That is quite a solid goal contribution rate, making his injury quite unfortunate.

That is why there is every reason for Tottenham and Chelsea to pursue Vlahovic, who will have a point to prove.
