Liverpool are in a three-way fight for a place in the Champions League, who has got the easiest run of games coming up?

Things can only get better. Arne Slot continues to see the positives for Liverpool even if the statistics that matter don’t look great for the under fire boss.

Defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory against Man City in the latest frustrating example of what has gone wrong this season. Defensive lapses and not making the most of opportunities to score goals is a mix that doesn’t lend themselves to a lofty league position and the Reds face a battle to qualify for the Champions League in their own right. Even an extra place might not be enough to secure qualification.

Liverpool’s next five Premier League fixtures

Liverpool, at least, are still in with a chance of ending the season with silverware with the FA Cup and Champions League still up for grabs, there are no outstanding candidates for either. At their best, they are more than capable. The next run of games is hugely important for all the sides looking to make the top four with Liverpool’s run looking more favourable for once.

Liverpool look to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat against Manchester City with a run that includes a trip to Sunderland and an FA Cup clash with Brighton.

Sunderland vs. Liverpool (Premier League) – Wednesday, 11 Feb, 20:15

Nottingham Forest vs. Liverpool (Premier League) – Sunday, 22 Feb, 14:00

Liverpool vs. West Ham (Premier League) – Saturday, 28 Feb, 15:00

Wolves vs. Liverpool (Premier League) – Tuesday, 3 Mar, 20:15

Liverpool vs. Tottenham (Premier League) – Sunday, 15 Mar, 16:30

If Liverpool want to reach the top four, winning at least four of these games should be the target with Sunderland away, probably the toughest of the next five games. Win that and a run of positive results should be expected.
