FPL GW26 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper

Raya (5.9m) comes in between the sticks for Arsenal’s double gameweek (DGW) against Brentford and Wolves in FPL GW26. It’s a no-brainer, really; Arsenal have the best defense in the league, and Raya is nailed. Unlike most of the rest of Arsenal’s defense, Raya is the only nailed defensive option, making him a great target for the DGW in 26.

Arsenal have the best xGA, the best goals against, and the most clean sheets in the league – they are undeniably the best defensive outfit this season. It is genuinely an option to triple up on Arsenal defenders for this GW, which tells you just how good their defense is. We’re going for Raya plus one other (no guesses for who our other Arsenal defender is) as we think Raya is the most nailed out of the options for these two fixtures. Raya is our keeper for FPL GW26.

FPL GW26 Scout Picks – Defenders

Gabriel (7.1m), Chalobah (5.8m) and Munoz (5.8m) make up our back three for FPL GW26…

Gabriel is naturally our other Arsenal defensive asset for DGW26 as he is the most nailed option after Raya. One could suggest that Saliba is just as nailed as Gabriel for these two fixtures, but we’re sticking with the most expensive defender in FPL for his minutes security and goal threat. Gabriel took home a 6-point haul in GW25 thanks to his side’s clean sheet. We, along with the rest of the FPL community and the 41.5% of managers that own him, will be hoping for at least double digits in this DGW!…

Chalobah comes into the backline, replacing his teammate Sanchez for this round of PL fixtures. Sanchez drops out of the team principally because of the risk of rotation amongst the Arsenal backline (therefore rendering Raya the best option after Gabriel), and should still be considered a good option for this mid-week fixture against Leeds.

Why Chalobah? Chalobah has the best defcon/90 and xdefcon amongst Chelsea defenders (FFH), and therefore offers a security of points that other assets cannot. His 1.03 defcon/90 is substantially better than the next best in the Chelsea squad, though it must be said his goal threat is minimal. Leeds are a decent side, but with Chelsea chasing top four, you’d fancy them to win it. With high CS potential and great defcon numbers, Chalobah makes the team for FPL GW26.

Finally, we have Crystal Palace’s Munoz. Back from injury, Munoz helped his side to a 0-1 win over Brighton on Sunday, making it a first CS in 3 games for the Colombian right back. 8 clean sheets plus 6 goal contributions pushes Munoz into the top 3 for points per match amongst defenders (behind only Gabriel and Disasi?) with 5.7 PPG. His injury forced many FPL managers, and indeed Glasner himself, into a rethink, but now he’s back, we all seem to be scratching our heads at how to get him back into our teams!…

With Burnley at home in FPL GW26, Munoz is an excellent option considering the CS potential and his attacking abilities. Since returning to the side, Palace have looked far more solid, and though his attacking numbers have not yet reached their pre-injury heights, the haul potential is certainly there. Munoz is a great option for GW26 and beyond due to his versatility of points scoring and his minutes security – BUY BUY BUY!

Wirtz (8.4m), Rice (7.5m), Rogers (7.6m), Bruno F (9.8m), and Sarr (6.3m) make up our midfield five for FPL GW26…

Wirtz comes into the team off the back of a blank against Man City in FPL GW25. He and his teammates face another tough test as they travel to the north east of England to face Sunderland away from home in FPL GW26, but we’re backing Liverpool’s record midfield signing in this one!

In the last 6 GWs, Wirtz has 4 goal contributions, and in the last 4 GWs, he has 3. The German has been in fine form since Christmas, creating 11 chances for his teammates across the month of January. He has 4 double-digit hauls in the last 7 GWs, and, having blanked against City, that surely means he’ll haul in GW26 (because that’s how probabilities work)… Sunderland are a decent side, but their massive xGA overperformance is slowly starting to catch up with them – I’m seeing shades of Nottingham Forest last season all over again! Wirtz is a great pick in FPL due to his great form, decent underlying stats, and fantastic fixtures over the next few GWs.

Rice keeps his spot in the team for the double GW first and foremost due to his minutes security. The Englishman scored 5 points in FPL GW25, taking him up into third spot for points scored by midfielders in FPL with 134. Rice is a consistent FPL points scorer through defcon, CS, bonus, and goal contributions – a truly versatile FPL asset. With more exciting players such as Havertz, Gyokeres, Maduek,e and Trossard all at risk of rotation across this DGW, it makes sense to go for security over excitement, and for that reason we’re backing Rice once again!

Rogers is the second midfielder to keep his spot in the AAFPL Scout Picks team, having picked up another goal in FPL GW25! The English midfielder now has 8 goals and 5 assists in the Premier League so far this season, equaling his goal tally from last season with 13 games to go! Brighton, Villa’s opponents for FPL GW26, rank 15th for xGA in the league and have conceded in every one of their last 5 Premier League matches. With Leeds and Wolves in GW27 and GW28, Rogers is surely a hold for now!

Bruno retains both his spot in the team and the captaincy for the third GW in a row! 3 double-digit hauls in the last 4 matches and attacking stats to die for, Bruno is a great captaincy option for the mid-week round of fixtures.

West Ham are looking somewhat resurgent at the moment, but so are United. The red devils dominated against 10-man Spurs in FPL GW25, with Bruno pulling the strings in midfield once again. 8 shots and 6 chances created – we’re talking silly numbers at this point! With Mbeumo seen limping after the match, we’re going with just the one United asset for FPL GW26, though I wouldn’t blame managers whose heads have been turned by the likes of Cunha and Sesko…

Completing the midfield is Palace’s Sarr. The AFCON winner scored the winner in Palace’s derby win over Brighton in FPL GW25, scoring in back-to-back games for the first time since FPL GW2/3. Sarr is arguably Palace’s most dangerous attacker due to his direct running and pace – his 0.54xGI/90 shows that he is consistently able to find himself in dangerous attacking positions and both create chances and get shots off.

Sarr had just two shots against Brighton in GW25, but both were from dangerous, central positions within the penalty box. In GW24 against Forest, Sarr was excellent, scoring from the penalty spot and threatening throughout – since Mateta’s absence, Sarr has really stepped up! With Burnley at home in FPL GW26, we wanted to target a Palace attacker, and Sarr is certainly the premier option!

Joao Pedro (7.6m) and Hugo Ekitike (8.9m) complete the team for FPL GW26…

Joao Pedro has served the AAFPL Scout Picks team very well over the past few GWs, so he retains his spot in the team for Chelsea’s match against Leeds in FPL GW26. Leeds have made Elland Road a fortress, but away from home they have struggled somewhat, having picked up just 7 points on the road this season, the third fewest. Chelsea, on the other hand, are in fine form both away and at home, having won all four of their last Premier League matches!

Joao Pedro has helped his team to victory in all four of those matches, picking up 3 goals and 4 assists across those 4 matches. That’s 7GI in just 4 matches. 2 double-digit hauls and 2 8-pointers, JP owners must be a very happy group of FPL managers! With Leeds and Burnley up next, now is probably the final opportunity for managers to buy JP before the fixtures turn.

Finally, we have Liverpool’s Hugo Ekitike. The LFC forward had a pretty quiet game against City in GW25 but still managed to take3 shots and create 1 chance for his teammates. Along with Wirtz, Ekitike is central to Liverpool’s attacking play, making him an attractive asset for the upcoming run of games.

The french forward is averaging0.75 goal involvements per 90 and has the highest FPL PPG in the Liverpool squad (4.64). With his minutes secure (due to Isak’s injury) and Liverpool in a race for the top four, Ekitike looks like a great option for the mid-long term. 10 goals and 2 assists is not bad for a debut season, though I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s closer to 20 goals come May…
