Hull City's players arrived back at training on Monday with an added air of freedom, with the focus on the Championship promotion race parked for the time being.

Saturday's 3-2 home loss to Bristol City left the Tigers feeling disappointed at missing a glorious chance to really throw their hat into the automatic promotion ring.

Unthinkable at the start of the season, Sergej Jakirovic's side have muscled their way into the conversation after a run of four straight wins, prior to their draw against Watford, and then defeat against a Robins side smarting from a 5-0 humiliation last Friday evening.

Attention for City now turns to Friday night, and the associated circus that follows Chelsea around. Two of the country's biggest broadcasters will be in town to watch City take on the Premier League outfit in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

There's also the small matter of Liam Rosenior's return to the club, nearly two years after being sacked by Acun Ilicali, with City missing out on the Championship's top six.

A big night under the MKM Stadium lights lies in store for City, but it also gives them a welcome break from the relentless quest for points in the Championship.

The weekend defeat to the Robins, who City always seem to struggle against, coupled with the latest ahead of Friday night's meeting with the Blues, were all key topics up for discussion in the latest episode of the 1904 Club podcast.
