Chelsea play Leeds United on February 10 in the Premier League. The manager spoke to the media ahead of the match to provide team news on several players. The former Strasbourg man has dealt with a number of injury problems since taking over as head coach, with some long-term absentees mixing with little issues and illness to carve his sqaud numbers down to a bare minimum. One such player that was spoken about is Romeo Lavia, a man who has missed almost every match since making his move from Southampton a few years ago and hasn’t played since November due to another injury problem.
Liam Rosenior Discusses Latest Romeo Lavia Injury News
The Situation
The midfielder, once deemed “special” for his ability to navigate a press when in possession, was being eased into the campaign. He played off the bench for a few games, then lasted 60 minutes in others and through October looked to finally have found some kind of fitness. This lasted for just the month as he played just 8 minutes against Qarabag before pulling up after having to chase back to make a ball recovery.

Since then, updates on his status have been light on the ground, with no clarity given over any timeline or injury specifics. His latest absence has seen him miss over 20 matches with almost 100 days on the sidelines so far.
What Rosenior Had to Say
Regarding the midfielder, Rosenior stated that it is great to see the player back around the squad but was noncommittal on a return, stating that they have a “really detailed plan”. This is presumably to work the player back to full fitness after his injury-ravaged tenure in London.

A detailed plan could be a good way to work the player back in to the team, he could slowly get some minutes and be fit to play some part in the run-in late in the term when he might be needed the most.
