Manchester City beat Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield in an enthralling encounter on Sunday afternoon.
Midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai had put the hosts in front on Merseyside with a superb free-kick, but Bernardo Silva levelled things up shortly after.
Erling Haaland then put the Citizens in front from the penalty spot in added-time after Alisson had fouled Matheus Nunes, but there was plenty of drama still to come.
Deeper into added time, with Alisson having gone up for a free-kick, Rayan Cherki’s low, rolling effort was heading towards goal with Haaland chasing the ball down.
Szoboszlai fouled him, before Haaland returned the favour, and the ball eventually rolled into the empty net, sparking jubilant scenes among the City players and their supporters.
VAR intervened, though, and the goal was disallowed for Haaland’s foul, with Szoboszlai sent off for pulling the Norwegian striker back as he chased what would have been an almost certain goal.
That result leaves City six points behind leaders Arsenal at the top of the table, but boss Pep Guardiola will hope the result spurs his side on in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, it appears that City are eyeing a lucrative move to sign an England international.
As per TEAMtalk, Manchester City are plotting a £100 million move to sign Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson this summer.

The report claims that the Citizens
Anderson joined Forest from Premier League rivals Newcastle United for a fee of £35 million back in 2024 and has since established himself as one of the best central midfielders in the top flight.
The Englishman has made more than 70 appearances for his current club since making the move to the City Ground.
It is claimed that the player could command a fee of between £80-100 million if he is to depart his current club this summer, and it also appears that uncertainty surrounding the future of Pep Guardiola won’t necessarily make much difference.
According to the report, Anderson wouldn’t be deterred from a move to The Etihad if Guardiola does depart the club this summer, as he is particularly interested in working under two managers who have both been touted as potential successors to the Spaniard: namely, Cesc Fabregas and Xabi Alonso.
