Injured Timberwolves wing Shannon cleared for contact

The Minnesota Timberwolves could soon get another key bench player back in the fold.

Monday, the club announced that injured wing Terrence Shannon Jr. has been cleared for full contact and 5-on-5 activities as he continues his recovery.

Shannon has been out since Dec. 27 due to a left foot abductor hallucis strain.

The team says Shannon will report to the G League’s Iowa Wolves for a rehab assignment and is expected to play with them on Tuesday.

He’ll then be re-evaluated during the All-Star break to determine when he could return to the Timberwolves.

The second-year wing was averaging 4.5 points and 1.3 rebounds while making 40.5% of his three-point shots over 12.8 minutes per game prior to his injury.
