PAYSON, AZ (AZFamily) — A local Girl Scouts branch is getting a new place to play, and that’s Something Good!
The Girl Scouts Arizona Cactus-Pine Council received thousands of dollars from the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury Foundation to build a new sports court.
The $80,000 grant donation will help the council build a new half-court, multi-use sports court at Shadow Rim Ranch in the Tonto National Forest near Payson.
It will help the council expand year-round athletic opportunities for girls in northern Arizona, serving about 1,500 girls all year long and another 500 girls during the organization’s summer camp.
The Phoenix Suns are expected to continue supporting Girl Scouts in Arizona later this month when they highlight girls’ leadership and entrepreneurship at the team’s home game on Feb. 21.
