Paul Merson and Chris Sutton both mention Cole Palmer when predicting Chelsea vs Leeds United

Chelsea will be looking to exact revenge on Tuesday night when Leeds United come to Stamford Bridge, and both Chris Sutton and Paul Merson have provided their predictions.

Liam Rosenior has four wins from four in the Premier League, securing wins over Brentford, Crystal Palace, West Ham, and Wolves. Leeds might be the toughest yet, given Leeds bullied Chelsea at Elland Road.

Daniel Farke’s side have lost just two of their last 12 Premier League games, but Arsenal reminded all that Leeds can be beaten with a 4-0 hammering of the Whites at Elland Road prior to their 3-1 win over Forest.

Cole Palmer is the best signing of the Todd Boehly era, there’s no debate 🤩

Rosenior knows the task his side faces. Farke got the better of his Hull side in the Championship, and the Chelsea gaffer was full of praise for Dominic Calvert-Lewin on Monday. But Chelsea are expected to win.

Chris Sutton and Paul Merson predict Chelsea to beat Leeds

While Leeds have been impressive of late, the Whites’ away form will give Chelsea confidence. Farke confirmed on Monday that Leeds will also be without key defender Pascal Struijk in West London.

Paul Merson delivered his prediction on Sports Keeda’s website, backing Chelsea to win 3-1 at Stamford Bridge while also discussing Cole Palmer. He believes Thomas Tuchel will be keeping a close eye.

“Palmer’s performance is a reminder to Tuchel. There is no point being the best player in the country in November. If you want to be in the World Cup squad, you have to be producing in the coming months.

“Since arriving at Chelsea, Palmer has produced some incredible numbers. His goals-to-games ratio is similar to a top number nine. I know a lot of them were penalties, but you still have to put them away.

“I expect games at the World Cup to go to penalties and England could use someone like him in that regard too. If Palmer can keep his form up, he has got every chance of making that team,” Merson said.

Chris Sutton also backed Chelsea to win, predicting a 2-0 victory for Rosenior’s side on BBC Sport. He agrees that Palmer’s return to form is worth noting: “This game smells of Chelsea revenge to me.

“The Blues have made a good start under new boss Liam Rosenior, with four wins out of four in the league. Cole Palmer has hit form too, and they should win this fairly comfortably,” Sutton predicted.

Harsh on Santos, but at home, let’s get as many attacking players on the pitch as possible 💪

Predicted Chelsea line-up for Leeds

Liam Rosenior can make Premier League history on Tuesday

Rosenior has made a superb start, only failing to win against Arsenal on two occasions in the Carabao Cup semi-finals and even then, both performances had plenty of positives. He should beat Leeds.

The win at Wolves saw him become only the second English gaffer to win his first four Premier League matches. He is the first Chelsea manager to win his first four games since Maurizio Sarri did in 2018.

If he beats Leeds on Tuesday night, Rosenior will match Craig Shakespeare’s record of five wins from his first five Premier League games as an English manager. He will break that record with two more wins.
