"We could see people going in and out of the toilets, but you never think anything could be wrong"

A bakery has issued a public appeal after a staff member's mobile phone went missing during a busy shift. A volunteer at Anfield's Homebaked Bakery discovered her phone was no longer in the pocket of her coat at the end of the day.
The phone belongs to a woman in her mid-60s who volunteers at the venue and usually works on matchdays when it is at its busiest. Homebaked Bakery's operations manager, Angela McKay, told the ECHO coats are normally left hanging near the communal toilet area, which was particularly busy during yesterday's Liverpool vs Manchester City match.
Angela said: "Unfortunately, she was running late and didn't realise she left her phone in her coat pocket instead of keeping it with her."

Angela explained the volunteer only noticed her phone was no longer in her possession at the end of her shift. The bakery later posted a statement on social media platform X, describing the incident as a "disgrace" and urging whoever took the phone to return it.
Angela added: "We put the post out wanting to speak to the person directly. We decided we don't want it to be a big issue, but it's really quite upsetting.
"Nobody wants to deal with that after a long shift. We want to get the phone back where it belongs."
The phone stored sentimental images and content belonging to the volunteer. Angela says the phone's disappearance has been "upsetting for everyone".

She said: "Nothing has ever been taken before. The people that come in understand what we're about, and we've always had really lovely people. To have that happen at the end of the night when we are working our hardest isn't nice.
"We have families coming in, elderly people and young lads always enjoying the match. They're all lovely, honest people. It's a little shocking, really."
The team at Homebaked Bakery has promised that if the phone is returned to the venue, then no further actions will be made. Angela added: "We just want the phone back.
"We don't care how or why it happened; just please do the right thing. There's always loads of people here, so you don't even need to speak to the staff. Just come in, put it on the counter and that'll be the end of it."
