Cam Thomas explains motive behind Bucks signing

As the Bucks have sought him for years, Thomas is happy to join their side this season.

Cam Thomas is beyond thrilled to join and continue this 2025-26 season with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Milwaukee Bucks / Schedule

Speaking for the first time as the newest member of the franchise, Thomas revealed his own reason why he chose Milwaukee.

“The front office told me that they always wanted me, always called about me, been trying to get me here for years,” Thomas said. “That definitely plays a part in your decision to go somewhere because I really felt wanted by the guys. Talked to Doc before. It was great. Great conversations.

“And then just seeing the team, I feel like I can actually help and contribute and just blend in and just be one of the guys.”

Thomas subsequently entered the Bucks after he was released by the Brooklyn Nets.

The 24-year-old didn't play much this year. He missed 20 games of the season due to a hamstring injury and went on to play less under head coach Jordi Fernandez.

But Thomas is a known offensive talent. Last 2024-25, he led the Nets in scoring with 24 points, but only appeared in 25 games.

Regardless of the unwanted exit he took from Brooklyn, Thomas is steadfast in his new beginnings with the Bucks and help them win at the critical second-half stretch of the season.

“Being somewhere for five years, you get comfortable there, you love it there, but then at the end of the day, it’s still a business. And it’s new beginnings,” Thomas added.

“Happy for the opportunity. Happy that everybody’s just embracing me, everybody’s happy I’m here, everybody wanted me, so I feel great. Can’t wait to get on the court and help win.”
