Former Kansas men’s basketball player Johnny Furphy of the NBA’s Indiana Pacers suffered a torn right ACL in Sunday’s road loss to Toronto and will miss the remainder of the season, the team has confirmed on its X account.
Furphy, a 6-foot-8, 21-year-old guard from Melbourne, Australia, hurt his knee after completing a one-handed slam and landing awkwardly versus the Raptors. An MRI taken on Monday at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York confirmed that Furphy tore his right ACL, the team indicated.
Furphy started 21 of 35 games for Indiana in 2025-26, his second season in the NBA. He’s averaged 5.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists while logging 18.4 minutes per game.
The second-round draft pick has hit 47% of his shots. He’s 23-of-71 from 3 for 32.4%.
According to Yahoo, Furphy is third among Pacers players who have appeared in at least 30 games this season with 8.6 rebounds per 36 minutes.
Furphy averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game during his one season at Kansas (2023-24). He hit 44 of 125 3s for 35.2%.
