“That was disappointing tonight”: Doc Rivers cites turnovers, lack of movement in Bucks loss to …

Doc Rivers and the Milwaukee Bucks rode a three game winning streak, but their run came to an end as they dropped a 118 to 99 decision to the Orlando Magic at the Kia Center on February 9.

“I just thought they were the more physical team tonight. It’s amazing,” Rivers remarked via The Athletic’s Eric Nehm. “You just never know. We had two great days, so that was disappointing tonight, really. I thought we hung in there, but I actually didn’t like how we played in the first half and we were up. Didn’t play well, didn’t move the ball. I think they had 12 more shots than us. It was a frustrating night tonight.”

This marks the third time in their past six games that the Bucks have been held under 100 points.

The Bucks now drop with a 21-30 record and sit 12th in the Eastern Conference well out of playoff contention, had a chance to gain ground on Orlando, which holds a 28 and 24 record and is among the teams the Bucks are chasing for a play in spot.

Turnovers slowed down Doc Rivers and the Bucks against the Magic

Turnovers continued to disrupt the Bucks’ offense, preventing them from finding a consistent rhythm. The only exception came in the second quarter, when they scored 32 points while shooting 60 percent from the field and 60 percent from three point range. During that period, they committed just three turnovers.

The Bucks once again played without Giannis Antetokounmpo due to a calf injury and relied on Kevin Porter Jr., who scored a team high 28 points on 10 of 19 shooting while adding seven assists in 36 minutes. AJ Green also chipped in, making four of eight three point attempts and finishing with 15 points.

Anthony Black led the Magic with 26 points on 8 of 13 shooting, followed by Desmond Bane with 25 points. Franz Wagner made an instant impact in his return, adding 14 points in 16 minutes and sparking a third quarter surge that allowed Orlando to pull away from Milwaukee on Monday night.

The Bucks and Magic are set for a rematch on Wednesday in Orlando.
