Alex Caruso on his dust-up with LeBron James: 'We Were About to Fight'

Thunder guard Alex Caruso joked he and LeBron James were "about to fight" following a brief, tense exchange over the referees during the game.

The interaction between LeBron James and Alex Caruso during the Los Angeles Lakers' 119–110 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder caught the attention of some fans, who thought there might have been some tension between the two.

However, in a postgame interview on NBA on NBC, Caruso cleared the air, joking about the situation.

"Yeah, we were about to fight," Caruso joked. "They were saying something to the refs, and then we were walking off just clearing the air. Obviously, you could see I'm smiling, he's smiling."

Caruso also noted that the two fights earlier in the NBA that day likely escalated the referees' reaction to their interaction.

"There were two fights in the NBA tonight, so I think everyone's on edge. That's probably what it was," he added.

The loss marked the Lakers' 20th of the season, dropping them to sixth place in the Western Conference with a 32–20 record.

Meanwhile, the Thunder remain comfortably the best team in the NBA with a 41–13 record.
