Chelsea have made their fair share of transfer mistakes over the year, but this one may not entirely be their fault.
It’s almost as if the January transfer window never happened at Stamford Bridge, with no first-team signings to shout about for Chelsea.
All eyes will be on the summer transfer window, especially as Liam Rosenior has already drawn up a list of three positions he wants to strengthen. This includes an attacker, midfielder and defender.
The money should be there to spend after a quiet January and the fact that Raheem Sterling is now off the books, but players like Tyrique George and Axel Disasi could also leave permanently.
Interestingly, it looks as if there are already a few names popping up, too.
Harsh on Santos, but at home, let’s get as many attacking players on the pitch as possible 💪
Predicted Chelsea line-up for Leeds
Chelsea interested in signing £80m attacker Eli Junior Kroupi
Eli Junior Kroupi only joined Bournemouth in the January transfer window last year, but he’s already displayed his world-class talents in the Premier League, despite being a teenager.
Chelsea actually tried to sign Kroupi prior to his Bournemouth move, and even had a £30 million deal agreed, according to The Sun.
However, he ended up joining the Cherries for £10 million, and the rest is history.
Now, The Sun are once again reporting that Chelsea are back in for the signing of Kroupi, but they’ll have to pay £70 million more than Bournemouth did, with his new price tag at £80 million.
Joao Pedro is the CLOSEST Chelsea have had to Didier Drogba since he left… 👀
What do you think?
Todd Boehly could have saved himself £70 million
The fact that Chelsea are interested in signing Kroupi for £70 million more than they could have gotten him for shows that a mistake was made.
However, the Blues already have Alejandro Garnacho, Pedro Neto, Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens, Cole Palmer and Geovany Quenda who can all operate out wide.
Whilst Kroupi is no doubt an unbelievable talent, you can’t physically go out and buy every major talent in world football, as there simply aren’t enough places on a football pitch.
It seems pointless to have even gone out and bought players like Gittens and Garnacho at inflated prices only to go and just spend even more on someone else a year later.
