Stephen Curry sends clear message about his knee injury return

Stephen Curry says he will not rush his return from a lingering right knee injury, stressing that coming back too early could make the problem worse. The Warriors star has missed several games and admitted the knee is still painful and needs careful management.

Stephen Curry has made one thing clear. He is not rushing back from his knee injury, even as the Golden State Warriors continue to miss their leader on the floor.

The Warriors star guard has been sidelined for the past four games and has played in only two of the last eight contests. Curry is dealing with lingering pain and swelling in his right knee and believes an early return could lead to a more serious problem.

"It's a matter of learning as I go what works rehab-wise," Curry told ESPN's Anthony Slater of his right knee injury.

"Because it's still painful. You have to try to get rid of all the inflammation and pain. It's something we still have to monitor and injury-manage, but it's something where, if I come back too early, it could flare up."

The issue first appeared last month during a back-to-back set against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Curry scored 26 points in a win on Jan. 25, but later revealed his knee flared up during practice the day before. He missed the second game of the back-to-back as a result.

Curry returned to action against the Utah Jazz on Jan. 28 and the Detroit Pistons on Jan. 30, but his minutes were limited in both games. He played under 30 minutes and was clearly not at full strength.

During the game against Detroit, Curry limped to the locker room in the third quarter and has not played since.
