Ivica Zubac ankle injury pushes back Pacers debut

Pacers coach Rick Carlisle gave an update on Ivica Zubac's injury return, confirming the center will have to wait for his debut longer than expected.

Indiana Pacers coach Rick Carlisle confirmed that center Ivica Zubac will miss action through the All-Star break due to an ankle injury. Carlisle noted that Zubac is not expected to play for a while, leaving the Pacers to adjust without their newly acquired big man, via Underdog NBA.

Indiana Pacers / Schedule

Zubac is officially listed on the injury report with a left ankle sprain, which will keep him out for an extended period. The Pacers now face the challenge of managing their frontcourt rotations until he recovers.

Zubac was traded to Indiana just before last Thursday's NBA trade deadline in a deal that sent Ben Mathurin, Isaiah Jackson, and multiple draft assets to the LA Clippers.

Before the trade, Zubac had been a consistent double-double threat for Los Angeles, averaging 14.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists across 43 games this season.

With Zubac sidelined, the Pacers will continue leaning on Jay Huff to fill the center role. Carlisle and the coaching staff will need to manage rotations carefully.
