Opinion: Chelsea should offer £32m star for Julian Alvarez, it would seal the deal

Julian Alvarez appears to be a new Chelsea transfer saga that could drag on all the way until the summer.

An attacker is on the radar of Liam Rosenior for the summer window, but there are no clear signs as to whether that is a number nine or simply another player like Joao Pedro.

Chelsea have just Pedro and Liam Delap as their only options through the middle, and the latter has struggled to stamp his authority since joining from Ipswich.

So much so that Delap is already being linked with a move away in the summer.

But let’s not speak too soon, as there are still months of football left for the Englishman to turn his fortunes around at Stamford Bridge.

Harsh on Santos, but at home, let’s get as many attacking players on the pitch as possible 💪

Atletico Madrid want in excess of £86 million for Julian Alvarez

Julian Alvarez and Chelsea are in talks over a potential summer move, and it’s being reported that the Blues are in an advanced position.

However, Alvarez, who used to ply his trade at Manchester City, hasn’t scored in his last 11 games for Atletico Madrid, which is slightly concerning.

And it seems as if the Spanish club don’t want to get rid of him.

According to cfbayerninsider, Atletico Madrid are demanding in excess of £86m for the Argentine.

It’s also stated that Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool are credited with an interest, and the Gunners are willing to offer winger Gabriel Martinelli and forward Gabriel Jesus to sweeten the deal.

Chelsea need to offer Nicolas Jackson to Atletico Madrid

Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal in 2024 for around £32 million.

His time at Chelsea has been a mix of world-class moments and raw inconsistency. Despite becoming the fifth-fastest player in club history to reach 20 Premier League goals, he left on loan for Bayern Munich in September 2025 and has struggled since.

With Bayern Munich not wanting to sign him permanently in the summer, it’s the perfect opportunity for Chelsea to offer him in a deal for Julian Alvarez. After all, Atletico Madrid were pushing hard to sign him in February of last year, so there’s natural interest in a deal.
