Halle Berry is known around the world for her work on screen, but a recent interview revealed a connection that will surprise many football fans.
The Oscar-winning actress spoke openly about her background and family history.
In doing so, she shed light on a link to one of England’s most famous football clubs, Liverpool.
It is a connection that stretches back generations rather than something newly adopted.
Berry explained that her link to Liverpool comes from her mother, Judith Ann Hawkins.
“My mother’s side of the family is Liverpudlian,” she told BBC Radio 1Xtra, noting that her mother moved to the United States at a very young age.
Despite those roots, Berry admitted she has yet to visit the city herself.

“I got asked this last night, and I haven’t been there, I’m ashamed to say,” she shared. “One of these trips, I’m gonna make it back to my roots.”
She also touched on the city’s distinctive accent: “Most people don’t understand it. I can actually understand it though.”

While she cannot speak like a Scouser herself, she said that following Liverpool’s football team comes naturally.
“Yes, the football, which I follow,” she revealed. “I have to for my family, for my roots.”
Halle Berry joins long list of famous Liverpool FC fans
Berry’s comments place her among a wide range of famous Liverpool supporters.
Actor Mike Myers has long spoken about his connection to the club, while Liam Neeson has also been linked with Liverpool fandom.
The list extends beyond film. Singer Lana Del Rey has been associated with the club, while LeBron James has a business relationship with Liverpool’s ownership group.
Daniel Craig is another well-known supporter, as is Spice Girls star Mel C.
Berry’s admission adds another global name to Liverpool’s already star-studded fanbase.
