Ears should prick up at Everton after what Arne Slot just said about £7m Liverpool player…

Everton need a new right-back.

Seamus Coleman turns 38 in October and is out of contract in July regardless, while David Moyes does not seem convinced by Nathan Patterson whatsoever, having recently admitted Everton have been looking for a new right-back for over 12 months.

Patterson cost Everton £16m in a move from Rangers back in January 2022 – but the BBC say the Toffees also wanted to sign Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen around the same time.

The Scotland international later sealed a £6.5m move to Merseyside with Liverpool in June 2022 – but Everton should consider taking another look after Arne Slot publicly embarrassed the defender.

What should be next for Seamus Coleman after his current Everton contract? 🤔

Can he really still provide an impact on the pitch… 😬

Liverpool could present Everton with potential solution to right-back problem as Arne Slot takes aim at Calvin Ramsay

Despite a strong display against Crystal Palace earlier this season in his one and only appearance this term, the 22-year-old seems to be disliked by Slot, much to the frustration of many Liverpool fans on social media.

Jeremie Frimpong, Conor Bradley, Joe Gomez and Dominik Szoboszlai are all set to be absent when Liverpool face Sunderland on Wednesday, but the Liverpool boss insisted he will choose someone other than Ramsay to play at right-back once again.

"In general, if you don't win, the players who are not playing become the best players in the squad."

When asked about Ramsay, Slot said: “In general if you don’t win a game, the players who aren’t playing become the best players in the squad. That’s the same everywhere in the world. This is an example of that as well. I just want to protect all my players. I’ve chosen other players until now and that’s also what I’m going to do tomorrow.”

Even in January when Liverpool first started to experience injuries in the right-back department, the Dutchman said he “still” has “better options” than Ramsay.

Everton could find a bargain after unusual Calvin Ramsay treatment

To be clear, we are by no means suggesting the Liverpool No.47 should be signed by Everton and thrown straight in at right-back.

Our point is that, considering Everton have shown admiration for Ramsay before while exploring a deal for Patterson, and given the fact the Liverpool outcast will only have 12 months left on his contract at the end of the season, we see no harm in taking him for a nominal fee to see what he could do on the blue half of Merseyside.

Slot clearly has no interest in using the man born in Aberdeen, so there could be value in taking him from Anfield.

The disgraceful way in which he has been treated could also instil some fire in his belly, giving him motivation to prove the 47-year-old wrong for a rival side.

If you are David Moyes, who would be your starting right-back for the remainder of the season? 🤔

There is every chance Ramsay may continue his struggles at Everton, but as the Aberdeen academy graduate looks set to leave Liverpool this summer, there is plenty of potential upside in The Friedkin Group giving him a chance.
