It’s been a busy few days for former Liverpool players. Ex-winger Albert Riera was recently announced as the new manager of Eintracht Frankfurt, having left his role at Celje in Slovenia.
Additionally, former Anfield favourite Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain officially completed his move to Glasgow Celtic over the weekend, with the 32-yer-old revealing that Andy Robertson helped him decide on the transfer.
And now, another ex-Reds player could soon be making the transition into the dugout. Jonjo Shevley, while speaking to talkSPORT, has revealed that he has an offer to become an assistant manager for a club in Turkey – but did not go as far as to name the interested party:
“I do enjoy the coaching side of it. I’ve actually had an offer from a club in Turkey to come in and be an assistant manager,” he said.
“I’m just unsure of that at the moment because my family are here and settled, and I don’t know whether I’m still a bit too young.
“But it’s something that interests me and I love learning the game, love watching the game and if there’s one on the telly, even if it’s the Azerbaijan third league, I’ll sit and watch it and try and analyse it.”
When quizzed on a potential return to England be it as a player or a coach, Shelvey kept the cards close to his chest:
“I’m loving being here [in the UAE] and it’s such a great place to be. Eventually, maybe [I’d come back], I don’t know. It depends what doors open up. But for this moment in time I’m loving being here.”
“But you never know, if something pops up and it suits all parties then definitely.”
Shelvey currently turns out for United Arab Emirates side Arabian Falcons.
