Mohamed Salah's representatives are reported to have initiated discussions with Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad, following the Liverpool star apparently giving the green light to negotiate a transfer. Salah, 33, has been consistently linked with a switch to the Saudi Pro League in recent years, with Al-Ittihad notably making a £150million bid for his services in 2023.
Liverpool rejected the offer and managed to fend off further interest last year, persuading Salah to commit to a new contract until 2027.
However, a disagreement with Arne Slot earlier this season cast fresh uncertainty over his future at Anfield.
Despite remaining at the club after the closing of the January transfer window, this summer is likely to see increased speculation about Salah's future once again.
A report from Foot Mercato suggests that the Egyptian has instructed his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, to proceed with negotiations.
The report adds that Salah is considerably more open to the idea of joining Al-Ittihad than he was a year ago. The current Saudi champions recently parted company with Karim Benzema during the January transfer window, which could free up funds for a potential deal for Salah.
Al-Ittihad also sold N'Golo Kante in January, while Fabinho's contract is due to expire in June. Another high earner, Moussa Diaby, who plays in the same position as Salah, has been linked with a return to Europe.
The forward is on track for his least productive season in front of goal since joining Liverpool in 2017, having netted just six times this campaign. Salah was temporarily dropped from Liverpool's squad in December following an interview where he claimed to have 'no relationship' with Slot, who had omitted him from the starting eleven for three consecutive matches.
Salah then went on to be unavailable for Liverpool for more than month during the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, before returning to Merseyside last month.

Since his return, Salah has started all five of Liverpool's matches including three in the Premier League, and will be hoping to continue that run when the Reds travel to face Sunderland on Wednesday night.
Salah's contract at Liverpool runs until the summer of 2027, having signed a two-year extension towards the end of last season.
