76ers add ex-Bulls player before clash vs Knicks: Report

As expected, Dominick Barlow got his standard contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.

With the open two-way slot, the Sixers are expected to add the former Chicago Bulls first-round pick, Dalen Terry. He reportedly joins the team after getting traded ahead of the 2026 deadline last Thursday.

Coming out of Arizona in 2022, Terry was selected by the Bulls with the 18th overall pick. He appeared in 38 games as a rookie, seeing the court for an average of 5.6 minutes per game.

Terry saw a slight increase in playing time during his second season, but never broke through with a significant role. At this stage of his career, the fourth-year veteran has averaged just 11 minutes in over 200 games.

Before the Bulls cut ties with Terry at the deadline, he appeared in 34 games. The veteran was shooting 44 percent from the field and knocking down 41 percent of his threes, producing 3.5 points per game.

In order to land the former Sixers forward Guerschon Yabusele, the Bulls sent Terry to the New York Knicks. The Knicks then flipped Terry to the New Orleans Pelicans, turning that trade into the acquisition of the standout guard, Jose Alvarado.

Not getting the opportunity to stick with the Pelicans is unfortunate for Terry, considering they might’ve had open minutes on their struggling roster. With the Sixers, Terry joins a situation with a team that’s working on getting back in the playoffs.

The good news for the former Bulls guard is that the Sixers have a solid history of placing their two-ways in a good spot. Barlow is the latest example. Dating back to previous seasons, the Sixers also converted Justin Edwards and the former Philly center, Paul Reed.

Terry might not play much for the Sixers out of the All-Star break, but the 23-year-old will get a chance to showcase himself to the organization as he works to bounce back after getting cut loose from the rebuilding Bulls.
