'I'd love to coach': Joe Cole reckons he can make struggling Chelsea player come good

Alejandro Garnacho has struggled with consistency under Liam Rosenior, which has seen him used sparingly by the Chelsea boss.

Chelsea are spoilt for choice out wide. The likes of Pedro Neto, Estevao Willian, Jamie Gittens, Cole Palmer and Alejandro Garnacho have all been fighting for a place in the starting XI.

However, Gittens is currently out injured, whilst Neto and Garnacho are out of form.

The Argentine was brilliant in the first leg against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup when he scored his brace, but Garnacho was booed against West Ham and has looked lost in other performances.

And Joe Cole has even offered him some advice to come good at Stamford Bridge.

CONFIRMED XI to face Leeds!

Joe Cole knows how to get the best out of Alejandro Garnacho

Joe Cole is widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted English players of his generation. Over his seven seasons at Stamford Bridge, he made 282 appearances and scored 39 goals, which included winning three Premier League titles, three FA Cups, and two League Cups.

With his wealth of experience, he really feels as if he can turn things around for Garnacho (as per The Sun).

“I’d love to coach Garnacho. He’s such a super-talented footballer. The sky‘s the limit. He could be anything, he really could. I’d love to go through his clips.

“There’s a few technical things he can do better from a coaching performance in both boxes. Because he’s not like an old-fashioned winger or a number 10, he’s a wing forward.

“There’s a massive scope if he puts himself in better positions. But I also think he might need a little arm around his shoulder and a little bit of maturity in terms of how to conduct yourself as a footballer.”

Liam Rosenior’s stance on Alejandro Garnacho

Despite these challenges, Liam Rosenior has remained supportive in the media of Garnacho, describing him as an “outstanding player” and attributing his struggles to a lack of rhythm caused by squad rotation.

Rosenior has backed the 21-year-old to have a much stronger second half of the campaign once he adapts to the team’s collective demands.

“I’ve spoken to all of the players. I don’t know where the criticism comes from. Garna had a difficult half against West Ham but he showed some really bright moments coming on against Arsenal.”
