Roy Keane says one Liverpool player was 'looking for trouble' against Man City

Liverpool suffered a 2-1 loss against Man City in the Premier League at Anfield.

Jamie Carragher admitted that he was shocked Alisson Becker gifted Manchester City the opportunity to condemn Liverpool to defeat.

Bernardo Silva equalised for City seven minutes later and a share of the spoils might have been a fair result. But in stoppage-time, the visitors were gifted a gilt-edged chance to claim all three points when Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker raced off his line and fouled Matheus Nunes. Although Nunes was not in a threatening position, Alisson fouled the City man and referee Craig Pawson awarded a penalty that Erling Haaland converted.

Alisson has been an indispensable player for Liverpool since his arrival from AS Roma in 2017 and been one of the best keepers in the world. But Carragher admitted that the Brazil international made a ‘crazy’ decision’ to bring down Nunes in an unthreatening position.

Speaking on Sky Sports, former Liverpool vice-captain Carragher said: “You cannot believe a goalkeeper of that quality makes that decision there. It's not like you're going to be able to cross the ball, it's too far ahead of him. All he can actually do there is knock it out for a goal kick and he's just made a crazy decision.

“We see goalkeepers make this mistake. It's just madness finding himself make that decision. He doesn't make too many, what a goalkeeper he has been but obviously it was a huge decision.”

Alisson had a relatively quiet evening in Liverpool’s goal. He had just three shots to save before Silva’s equaliser. Roy Keane suggested that Alisson might have got ‘bored’ and was ‘almost looking for trouble’. The ex-Manchester United captain said: “I think it's one of them with the goalkeeper sometimes. I know he's an experienced goalkeeper. It's almost [like] they get bored sometimes, even in a big game. You said to keepers sometimes mind your own business.

“That had almost nothing to do with him. He almost looked for trouble. A crazy decision for an experienced goalkeeper. If a young goalkeeper said that, you'd say, all right, lack of experience, whatever, and naive. To do that... just slow himself down.”
