**Leeds United continue to prove the doubters wrong since the start of the year. Many thought their midweek clash with Chelsea was not going to yield a result, but Farke’s men pulled off an upset.**
Going into the game, Chelsea had won seven of their last nine games in all competitions under Liam Rosenior. Leeds also came into the game with some confidence off the back of a huge victory against relegation rivals Nottingham Forest on Friday night. The tension at the bottom of the table continues to increase with teams like West Ham picking up crucial results over the past few weeks.
Leeds had the chance to put some more daylight between themselves and the relegation zone at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea legend stunned by Leeds United comeback
-----------------------------------------------
Things looked bleak for the away side when the Blues took the lead within just 24 minutes with Joao Pedro opening the scoring after some terrible defending at the back. Cole Palmer doubled the Blues’ lead from the spot in the second half. Leeds then pulled one back as Lukas Nmecha dispatched his penalty in the 67th minute, and Noah Okafor capitalized on a defensive mixup at the back to level the scores. Daniel Farke’s men held strong to see out a 2-2 draw.
Former Chelsea man Joe Cole, who was on punditry, could not believe the result: “You have got to credit Leeds, it was an incredible performance from Leeds.”
“Chelsea should have seen the game out. It’s a really disappointing night for Chelsea, when you are ahead like that you need to show a bit of maturity and a bit of nous.
“They gave away a silly penalty, and when you make these mistakes, they start becoming repetitive and it is really frustrating.
“In the first half it was outstanding from Chelsea, but I was cautious because you have to manage the game and not give them a sniff.
“They gave them a sniff because they don’t give up Leeds and they got the job done.
“Then you have the Cole Palmer miss, he won’t go through his career and miss another chance like that. I’m just gutted, really, I’m just gutted.”
Result should inspire confidence within the team

Picking up four points against Nottingham Forest and Chelsea should give Leeds fans all the confidence in the world. They are by far one of the best teams at the bottom of the league currently. And even without any significant reinforcements in January, they have shown that they can still get results in big games. This draw will play a huge part in the bid for survival come the end of the campaign.
