Chelsea were held to a 2-2 stalemate by Leeds United in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
João Pedro opened the scoring in the 24th minute after he was played through on goal by Cole Palmer, and the Brazilian dinked over Karl Darlow to give Chelsea the lead.
Moments later, Palmer almost doubled the Blues’ lead as João Pedro turned the provider this time, but Darlow denied the Englishman.
Five minutes after the restart, Estevao Willian could’ve got the host’s second, but he dragged his effort wide of the left post.
However, Chelsea were awarded a penalty in the 58th minute after Jaka Bijol brought down João Pedro in the area.
Palmer stepped up for the spot-kick, and he sent Darlow the wrong way to double the Blues’ lead.
10 minutes later, Leeds were also awarded a penalty following Moises Caicedo’s foul on Jayden Bogle. Lukas Nmecha converting to pull one back for the visitors.
In the 73rd minute, Noah Okafor restored parity for the Whites after Chelsea failed to clear their lines, and the Swiss slotted the ball into an empty net.
Palmer squandered a glorious opportunity to win it for Chelsea at the death when he skied his effort from Caicedo’s low cross at the back post.
The result sees Liam Rosenior’s perfect start to the Premier League come to an end after winning his first four league games in charge.
