QPR have a rising talent on their hands who is earning comparisons with Arsenal star and England international Eberechi Eze.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both looking to invest more in the future of the club as part of their transfer policy moving forward and one QPR man should certainly be on the clubs’ radars.
The Gunners snapped up 16-year-old Ecuadorian twins Edwin and Holger Quintero in December on a deal that will see the duo arrive at the club in 2027. The Quintero siblings followed 16-year-old Shamrock Rovers forward Victor Ozhianvuna in October.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur invested time in January to beat their North London rivals to the signing of promising Hearts forward James Wilson. That transfer was given plenty of publicity, despite the fact that the 18-year-old is set to begin in the academy rather than with the first team.
QPR youngster Emmerson Sutton continues to impress
The next talent to be signed on a similar deal by Arsenal, Spurs or another Premier League rival could be QPR starlet Emmerson Sutton. The 19-year-old made his first team debut for the R’s last term and is turning heads on loan spells this term.
Sutton spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Morecambe and was frequently praised for his performances. The National League side had been desperate to keep the winger in January but he was recalled by QPR and subsequently sent on loan to Harrogate Town in League Two.
Moving his way up the divisions, Sutton has already made four starts for Harrogate since signing. At the weekend, as the side went up against in-form Cambridge United, the wide man bagged his first goal in a huge 2-1 win.
That strike helped Harrogate end a 20-game wait for a win and it was quite some goal. Sutton found himself in bags of space on the left wing having lost his marker and latched onto a through ball, rifling it into the roof of the net.
Arsenal and Spurs should join Chelsea in scouting R’s starlet
QPR fans online have been quick to draw comparisons with former academy product Eberechi Eze, who went on to join Crystal Palace for £17 million in 2020, and then Arsenal for £67 million last summer.
Sutton, who has named Eze as an inspiration alongside Ronaldinho, Neymar and Marcus Rashford, had been linked with a Premier League move last season. TBR Football claimed in January last year that both Liverpool and Chelsea had been monitoring the player.
As Sutton’s stock continues to rise, he seems to have the profile that perfectly fits into what chiefs at Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are trying to do. If there’s an attacking midfielder with the potential of Eze in the making, Premier League sides may look to swoop soon.
