Chelsea drew 2-2 with Leeds United on Tuesday night as they stumbled in the race for the Champions League positions

Chelsea threw away a 2-0 lead at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night as they earned a point from their Premier League clash with Leeds United.

The Premier League has a strong UEFA co-efficient and the top five spots are likely to be enough to secure Champions League qualification for next season. The Blues sit fifth after Manchester United drew 1-1 at West Ham United.

Liam Rosenior’s side took the lead through Joao Pedro on 24 minutes and Cole Palmer converted from the penalty spot just before the hour mark.

However, Leeds had other ideas as two goals in five minutes saw the West Yorkshire side grab a point. Lukas Nmecha grabbed a goal back from the penalty spot before Noah Okafor equalised with a scrappy goal soon after.

Cole Palmer had the opportunity to win the game for Chelsea late on but he missed the golden chance to regain the lead.

The result leaves Chelsea five points above Liverpool in sixth and Brentford in seventh, with both rivals still to play this midweek.

Chelsea face Burnley in their next Premier League game before travelling to Arsenal and Aston Villa in early March. They then host Newcastle United before making the trip to Everton in mid-March.

"Six minutes of switching off. We were in complete control of the game. I don't want to talk about the football we played. If we want to improve, we have to make sure we're switched on for 90 minutes,” said Rosenior after the draw.

"Devastated because some of the football we played was excellent. We should have come away with three points. We gift them a point.”

Moises Caicedo was guilty of giving away the penalty that helped get Leeds back in the game. Discussing the incident, Rosenior said: "Genuinely haven't seen it back. I'm not sure we needed to make the challenge. But Moi's been outstanding.

"Even at 2-1, we just need to take the sting out the game. Whether we think it's handball or not, we have to take control of the situation. You kick the ball away and then complain for handball. These are small moments that we need to eliminate.”
