Arsenal have reportedly told one player he has no future at the club.
Arsenal have reportedly told a player he can leave ahead of the summer, with Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta’s squad planning already beginning. The Gunners have built an ultra-strong squad after another summer of big spending that saw more than £200million spent.
Arteta has plenty of quality and depth to call upon, and for anyone outside that group, it’s always going to be hard to get back in, as young talent Ethan Nwaneri has found, leading to a loan spell in January.
Nwaneri has a future at Arsenal, but the same can’t be said of all of the players who are currently out on loan. One player who fits that category is Fabio Vieira, who failed to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium after arriving for a deal worth an initial £29.9 million plus add-ons in 2022.
Vieira only ever made 33 league appearances, scoring twice, but he has never convinced Arteta, and loan spells at FC Porto and now Hamburg have followed. This season, Vieira has made 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and assisting five times.
According to BILD, Hamburg have an option to buy worth 20million euros, which is worth £17.4million. They say it is no foregone conclusion that Hamburg will activate their option to buy despite being impressed by his performance, but what is clear is that Vieira has no Arsenal future.
It’s reported that Vieira will not be welcome back at Arsenal and he already knows he needs to find a new permannent club this summer, with another year left on his contract after this summer. Arsenal will already struggle to get anywhere near the fee they paid for Vieira back this summer, hence the pre-agreed fee, and if they don’t sell this summer, the fee they can hope for is only likely to decrease further.
Having paid so much, the Gunners will desperately want to avoid a sitiation where Vieira ends up leaving for a nominal fee, or even worse for free, and that means a summer sale needs to be agreed.
