JJ Redick highlights only two good moments from Bronny James vs. Spurs

JJ Redick offered minimal praise for Bronny James after his season-best performance vs. the Spurs, noting only a couple of defensive plays against Victor Wembanyama in the first half.

Bronny James saw meaningful minutes as the Los Angeles Lakers fell 136-108 to the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night.

The 21-year-old guard played 25 minutes, scoring a season-high 12 points on 50% shooting, including a perfect two-for-two from three-point range. He also added three rebounds, a team-high six assists, and a block.

Despite such showing, Lakers coach JJ Redick offered only lukewarm praise.

In the post-game press conference, a reporter highlighted Bronny's confident fourth-quarter play and asked about his readiness.

Redick was brief: "Well, I think the takeaway, you know, in terms of the physicality that we wanted on defense... he had two really good possessions in the first half against Wemby."

Redick did not elaborate further and finished the press conference.

The Lakers were missing five starters against the Spurs: Luka Doncic (hamstring), Austin Reaves (left calf), LeBron James (foot), Marcus Smart (right ankle), and Deandre Ayton (knee).

Bronny is averaging 1.9 points and 1.1 assists in 6.8 minutes per game this season, appearing in 27 games for the Lakers in 2025-26.
