In January 2025, SportWitness extensively covered Manchester City’s links with a move for Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso.
At that point, TuttoSport appeared sure that the Citizens have made a formal approach for the versatile full-back. A bid wasn’t made, with the Old Lady demanding over €50m for a sale.
A deal didn’t materialise despite the saga rumbling on for the entirety of last year’s winter window. It then kicked off again in the summer.
Things have since taken a drastic turn for the Italian. He’s struggled this season, with Corriere dello Sport noting that the crowd at the Allianz Stadium ‘loudly booed him’ after an error against Lazio on Sunday.
The newspaper go deeper into the 25-year-old’s problems, suggesting that interest from Manchester City possibly turned his head.
They ask ‘where has the real Cambiaso gone?’. A clear line is drawn between how good he was in the first half of last season and how things are now. While there have been some positives here and there, the Italy international’s campaign is littered with errors and lapses.
Manchester City move wouldn’t be realistic on current form

Qualities that seemed natural to him aren’t seen in his performances anymore.
Manager Luciano Spalletti tried to defend his player after the boos on Sunday, saying: “Whoever boos him is harming him and Juve.”
That is an indicator of the trust the Italian has in his compatriot but Cambiaso is struggling to respond positively. He scored in Spalletti’s opening game as Juve manager but beyond that, has been a shadow of himself.
As things stand, he barely looks like a Juventus player – let alone a Manchester City player. A transfer to another big club feels like a farfetched idea.
