Update on Chelsea’s latest injured first team star hints at ten days out minimum

It was a brutal day out for for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tonight.

Not only did the Blues draw having been 2-0 up and cruising, they also lost key man Marc Cucurella at half time.

Speaking to the media at full time, Liam Rosenior gave more details about the injury.

“Unfortunately, at half-time, he felt his hamstring,” the coach explained.

“It wasn’t a tactical change. It was one that was enforced and Cucu’s been top and hopefully he’ll be OK. We’ll scan him and make sure we find out if he’s available for the next game.”

Cucurella to get a well deserved rest – and hopefully nothing more

We’re not surprised. Cucurella has been absolutely run into the ground this season. While Reece James has his minutes managed and Moises Caicedo gets regular suspensions to give him a break, Cucurella has been totally flogged, in a very energetic position.

It was always going to end this way – we’re sure he was going to be rested for the game against Hull on Friday in any case, and now it’s just a question of when he might be back. If he misses Hull, he has 11 days until our Burnley game. Let’s pray that enough – and if it’s not, let’s not take any risks, with Arsenal coming up ten days after that.

In the same presser, the link up between Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro was mentioned. Rosenior chose to spread the praise out to the whole team, who had played some great football at times in the game.

Rosenior also spoke about Joao Pedro, and was able to be a lot more positive about the striker, who he said was a “top player” and perfect for his style of play. The Brazilian certainly has been superb in the last month, and seems to love playing under the new manager.
