February 11 – Manchester City have signed a new multi-year partnership with Chinese car brand BYD in a deal that places the fast-growing automotive giant at the heart of the club’s matchday and training environment.
The deal will see BYD become the Official Automotive Partner of City’s men’s and women’s first teams, with their branding immediately appearing on the men’s training kit sleeve and from next season on the women’s equivalent.
BYD will also have a ‘prominent’ presence at the Etihad Stadium, including LED advertising, dugout headrest branding and the small detail of supplying the vehicle that chaperones the men’s first-team bus into the ground on Premier League and domestic cup matchdays.
Beyond the marketing assets, the agreement has a degree of practical weight. BYD and its premium sub-brand DENZA will supply vehicles to the club, while the wider BYD Group will oversee vehicle charging infrastructure and energy-storage batteries at the City Football Academy.
Ferran Soriano, Chief Executive Officer at City Football Group, owners of Manchester City, said: “BYD are global leaders within their field. Leaders in delivering excellence through technology and innovation. Leaders with purpose, to make the world a better place. All values that Manchester City share. As a Club, we are driven by a commitment to excellence and a passion for innovation. We partner with industry leaders to create a more environmentally sustainable future, starting with our facilities.
“This is why we are so proud to be BYD’s chosen partner and commit to work together for a better and more sustainable future for the duration of this multi-year partnership.”
BYD has built a relationship with elite European football having been an official sponsor of UEFA EURO 2024 and the UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2025.
Stella Li, BYD Executive Vice President, said: “Manchester City stands for excellence, innovation and the courage to push beyond limits – values that are deeply rooted in BYD’s DNA. This partnership is about more than football or mobility; it is about inspiring people around the world through technology that excites, connects and drives a more sustainable future. When innovation meets passion, the impact is truly global.”
The agreement also extends into community programmes, with BYD set to support future initiatives delivered through the City Football Foundation.
