"The Lakers have been encouraged that it's only a mild hamstring strain, but Luka's never dealt with a hamstring injury before in his 8-year NBA career," ESPN's Dave McMenamin said. "This has been a bit of a different rehab for him.

"Thursday against his former team, the Mavericks, is not out of the question," McMenamin reported. "He certainly has some motivation to get back on the court in time to play in the All-Star Game this weekend."

The Slovenian guard was able to run on Monday and planned to participate in a full five-on-five session with contact on Tuesday, per ESPN.

Luka injured his left hamstring in the second quarter of last Thursday-s 119-115 win over the Philadelphia 76ers and did not return to the game.

This season, Doncic is having one of the best years of his career, averaging 32.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game.
