Of all the absences currently plaguing Liverpool, Jeremie Frimpong is maybe the most damaging.
With Conor Bradley out of action long-term, Frimpong’s injury back in January overstretched the squad massively.
It’s his third injury since arriving at Anfield, despite having a stellar health record while at Bayer Leverkusen.
After no right-back signing was made at the end of the window, we have been praying for some good news regarding the Dutch wing-back.

It turns out the groin strain was not as serious as initially thought.
Jeremie Frimpong on track for swift Liverpool comeback
With muscular strains, it’s almost impossible to give a concrete timeline for a return, at least until recovery has started to progress.
Liverpool now have enough data to forecast Frimpong’s return to training.

A report in the Daily Mail reveals that the injury is ‘not thought to be a serious one’ and that the defender will be back in the mix in the coming weeks. If things stay on track, we might see him on the grass ‘in the next fortnight’.
That could mean he’s available for selection against West Ham, if not, Wolves the week after.
The schedule is actually fairly kind to Liverpool over the next few weeks, but it will still be a massive boost to have an actual right-back again — especially one in the kind of form Frimpong displayed before his absence.

Frimpong is tipped to ‘dominate’ for Liverpool at right-back, and his presence is crucial as Slot works out the best system going forward.
Positive Joe Gomez update for Liverpool as well
It’s not just Frimpong who is needed back in the squad. Joe Gomez can be so important with how versatile a defender he is.
He has also missed time, but was training with the team on Tuesday.
The same report claims Sunderland is coming slightly ‘too soon’, but a return at the weekend is not out of the question.

It’s not the first season where Liverpool have been hit with an injury crisis around the turn of the year, but it felt especially damaging this time around given the size of the squad.
Thankfully, Gomez and Frimpong are well on their way back into playing. Now, let’s hope Alexander Isak can follow suit.
