Chris Sutton Makes Premier League Title Prediction As He Pinpoints Big Difference Between Man City And Arsenal

Man City could come up short in their attempts to overhaul Arsenal at the top of the table, according to BBC pundit Chris Sutton.

Despite their win at Anfield at the weekend, Sutton says their lack of consistency means he can’t see them winning the title, with their rivals having both strength in depth and a strong backline on their side:

“In my opinion, they [Arsenal] will go on and win the title too, because of the quality of their squad and how good they are defensively.”

Man City must apply heavy pressure

While it is true that Arsenal have been far more consistent than Pep Guardiola’s men, strange things can happen during a title run-in.

The odds are still firmly stacked in the Gunners’ favour, but if City can stay within 3 or 4 points of their rivals heading into the final month of the season, the pressure could prove too much for their opponents, who have not won a league title in over twenty years.

Of course, that does mean picking up points on a regular basis between now and May, and City will need to build on their victory against Liverpool with a run of good results.

What are the odds of Man City winning the league?

Most betting firms have priced Guardiola’s side at around 4/1 to finish top of the table, with Arsenal still heavy favourites with bookies placing them at odds-on.

Opta, meanwhile, are also heavily backing the Gunners. They rate their chances of winning the title at 90.24%, while City are only given an 8.1% possibility, heading into gameweek 26. Results over the coming weeks will, of course, affect those numbers.
