Tottenham Hotspur have parted company with Thomas Frank after a grim run of form that left the club hovering just above the relegation zone.
Frank was dismissed after Tuesday night’s 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United, a result that extended Spurs’ winless Premier League run to eight matches and made it just two victories in their last 17 league games.
The team sits 16th in the table, only five points clear of the drop, and the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has turned toxic, with supporters booing the players and aiming chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning” at the Dane. Appointed in June 2025 on a deal running to 2028, Frank was initially backed to oversee a long‑term rebuild and did manage to steer Spurs to the round of 16 in the Champions League – but their domestic form never recovered from a poor autumn.
In a statement, the club said results and performances had forced the board to decide that a change was “necessary at this point in the season”, while thanking Frank for his work and professionalism during his short spell in charge.
Of course, many Liverpool fans will naturally be curious as to what will happen with recently‑appointed assistant coach John Heitinga. The former Ajax boss only arrived in north London in mid‑January after a brief and turbulent stint in charge of the Amsterdam giants, having come off assisting Arne Slot in Liverpool’s title-winning 2024/25 season.
However, despite joining as part of Frank’s backroom, Ben Jacobs has reported that Heitinga is expected to remain contracted to the North London club.
It has been reported elsewhere that the Dutchman will be leading training ahead of Spurs’ North London derby clash vs Arsenal on 28 February.
