According to earlier reports, the group plans to acquire the sporting rights of Vanoli Cremona and launch a new club in the Italian league starting with the 2026–27 season.
That team would then serve as the foundation for Rome's entry into the new NBA Europe competition. The group has already held talks with the company that manages the PalaEur, currently the largest arena in Rome, about playing there.
Team president Aldo Vanoli confirmed that discussions regarding the club's potential acquisition have taken place, while noting that nothing has been decided yet and that the focus remains on finishing the current season as strongly as possible.
"Over the past year, there have been numerous expressions of interest and recurring contacts aimed at the potential acquisition of Guerino Vanoli Basket. The ownership does not deny that discussions and talks have taken place, but at the same time reiterates that no definitive agreement has yet been reached.
The club is and remains fully focused on the sporting side and has no intention whatsoever of being influenced or destabilized by what is reported by the media and news outlets. The 2025–26 Serie A LBA season is still far from its conclusion; therefore, Vanoli Basket Cremona is determined and focused on finishing the current campaign by achieving the sporting objectives stated at the beginning of the year, with the best possible final position.
As confirmation of the ownership's efforts and commitment to supporting the team — currently performing well in its pursuit of yet another survival campaign and with a realistic chance of reaching the playoffs at the end of a regular season that has so far been full of satisfaction — the signing of a new player will be announced today, who will be available to head coach Pierluigi Brotto until the end of the season.
