Ex-West Ham boss Harry Redknapp believes his former club have a “big chance” of staying up this season.
Despite a recent upturn in form, the Hammers remain in the drop zone with 12 games to go, but Redknapp cited the performances against Chelsea and Manchester United as the reason he is optimistic that they will avoid relegation:
“They’ve got a big chance [of staying up]. They’ve hit form at the right time; they should have won at Chelsea, but their performances have been good. They’re in great form.”

“The crowd is behind them; they should have beaten Man United. A month ago, I would have said they were going down; they really did look like they were bang in it. They’ve turned it around; their confidence is high. Things are looking ok at West Ham, it’s great.”
Redknapp is right about the club’s performances
If you look at the form table over the last five matches, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have picked up 10 points. As Redknapp points out, they could have easily had 5 more if they had managed to hold on against both Chelsea and Manchester United.
One of the main reasons for the club’s recent improvement is the arrival of coach Paco Jemez. Speaking after the draw against Manchester United, midfielder Tomas Soucek said the Spaniard has made a “big” difference, especially in training.
Can West Ham keep up the momentum?
After the FA Cup tie against Burton Albion this weekend, the next five league fixtures are a mixed bag. Some are winnable while others could be difficult.
The Irons face in-form Bournemouth at home, Liverpool at Anfield, Fulham at Craven Cottage, Manchester City at the London Stadium and Aston Villa away. If they manage to secure 10 points as they did from their last 5 matches, that would be a massive achievement.
