Tottenham told to hire former Liverpool striker as new manager

Thomas Frank’s time at Tottenham is over, with the Dane dismissed after just eight months in charge following a dire run that left Spurs 16th in the Premier League and five points above the relegation zone. A 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle, extending their winless league streak in 2026 and intensifying fan unrest, ultimately proved the final straw for the Spurs board.

In the immediate aftermath of his sacking, former Liverpool assistant John Heitinga has remained on the coaching staff and is currently overseeing first-team training as Spurs weigh up their next move.

The Dutchman, who previously worked under Arne Slot at Anfield, will lead sessions at Hotspur Way to provide continuity for the squad ahead of their North London Derby clash on the 22nd of February while the hierarchy finalises an interim or permanent successor to Frank.

Of course, there has been plenty talk about who could replace the Dane at Spurs, with Mauricio Pochettino and Michael Carrick among those who have already been mentioned in reports. However, former Spurs defender Michael Dawson feels that ex-Reds striker Robbie Kean would be the perfect man to take over the reigns at the troubled side.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Dawson said

He said: “For me, there is someone there in the making, someone who knows the club, can galvanise everyone and bring them in the right direction, and that is Keane.”

“Why not give him the job on a permanent basis? They’ve gone for [Antonio] Conte, [Jose] Mourinho and Frank, and it hasn’t worked.”

Keane is thriving in charge of Hungarian outfit Ferencváros, having guided them to the top of the league table after 21 games. He also won the Nemzeti Bajnokság I (Hungarian First Division) last season.
