Houston Texans standout linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair has successfully undergone thumb surgery, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
Al-Shaair, a team captain and one of the most physical players on the Texans defense, had previously stated at the end of the 2025 season that he would need to address the thumb injury during the offseason. The procedure went well, and a full recovery is expected in time for the start of the 2026 season.

The 28-year-old Al-Shaair has been a cornerstone of the Texans’ defense since signing with Houston in 2024. In 2025, he earned a Pro Bowl nod after delivering another tackle-heavy season marked by his signature physical style and leadership.
