Maxx Crosby trade candidates: These 5 teams are best fits for Raiders star

Is a move imminent for Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, one of the NFL’s most dominant defensive players?

While appearing on “Yahoo Sports Daily” last Wednesday, Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer was asked if Crosby’s time with the team was over, to which Glazer replied, “I do,” while also mentioning a deal could be finalized before the draft in April.

Crosby wanted to play at the end of the season, but the Raiders shut him down for the final two weeks because of a knee injury. Glazer said that could have been a contributing factor in Crosby wanting to leave.

This season, Crosby had 10 sacks, 73 tackles, 28 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and an interception in 15 games.

Adding Crosby in a trade will be a costly venture both financially and with draft capital. Crosby, 28, signed a three-year contract extension in March 2025 that guarantees him $30 million in 2026. Glazer said Crosby would bring an even bigger return package than what the Dallas Cowboys received in the Micah Parsons trade, which was two first-round draft picks and a defensive tackle.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport added that Crosby has not yet requested a trade, though one could happen during or after the draft as he recovers from a meniscus injury.

Here are five teams that could be potential landing spots for Crosby:

New England Patriots

Coming off their Super Bowl 60 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Patriots will need some offensive help to surround Drake Maye to make the unit more explosive. However, a chance to add Crosby would make their defense even better. Although the Patriots were ninth in the league in pass defense this past season, they were tied for ninth in allowing 2.86 seconds per passing attempt, according to Next Gen Stats.

The Patriots already can place pressure up the middle with defensive tackles Milton Williams and Christian Barmore, and Crosby coming off the edge would make their pass rush even more effective.

The Eagles tried to trade for Micah Parsons last offseason, in an effort to shore up their pass rush. They eventually traded for Jaelan Phillips before the trade deadline and he wound up being effective, finishing with two sacks, nine hurries and 17 pressures, according to Pro Football Reference. With Phillips being a free agent, the Eagles are back in the same position. The 23rd selection could certainly be available to try to get Crosby and they are projected to have three picks on Day 2 of the draft this year (one in the second round and two in the third).

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys were aggressively trying to coax the Raiders to trade Crosby before the trade deadline and it would not be surprising if they tried to do it again. They are in a good position draft-pick-wise, holding two first-round picks in 2026 and at least one in 2027, making it enticing for the Raiders. The problem for the Cowboys will be fitting Crosby under the cap, which they are currently $29 million over, according to Over The Cap.

They could restructure the contracts of quarterback Dak Prescott or wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to get under the cap and then restructure Crosby. However, that is a lot of money they will have to pay up front in signing bonuses.

Washington Commanders

While most of the attention was on quarterback Jayden Daniels’ injuries — he played in just seven games — the Commanders’ defense was porous, finishing as the worst unit in the league, allowing 384.3 yards per game. They need help on all three levels, starting with their defensive line.

The Commanders need a consistently disruptive pass rusher in a division where they will face rival quarterbacks like Dak Prescott (Cowboys), Jalen Hurts (Eagles) and Jaxson Dart (Giants) twice a season. The Commanders have the cap space ($76 million), but it is unlikely they would part with the No. 7 overall pick and they do not have a second-round selection this year.

Still, they are a team to watch, especially if general manager Adam Peters gets creative and finds a way to get a deal done.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills’ experiment to bring in Joey Bosa last season produced average results (five sacks), but he is scheduled to be a free agent. The Bills need a bona fide edge rusher to pair with defensive end Greg Rousseau. Crosby would be the optimal choice and be a shot in the arm for a team that is still reeling from a disappointing 2025 season that ended with a loss to the Denver Broncos in the divisional round and the firing of head coach Sean McDermott.
