Nico Schlotterbeck remains firmly on Liverpool’s shortlist ahead of the summer window. The Germany international has long been admired by Liverpool’s recruitment team as a left-sided option who can step into a high defensive line and progress the ball from the back, making him a stylistic fit for Anfield.

Borussia Dortmund have an unenviable contract stand-off with the 26-year-old. His current deal is understood to run until 2027, and despite offers from the German giants, Schlotterbeck has been hesitant to commit to new terms. That uncertainty naturally fuels speculation that Dortmund could be bracing for future interest, especially with clubs like Liverpool tracking the situation closely.

In that context, reports in Germany now link Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi with a possible switch to the Westfalenstadion, hinting that Dortmund may already be looking at reinforcing – or even reshaping – their central defence.

According to Sport Bild, BVB have placed the 28-year-old Argentine on their target list, with his contract on the south coast running down and no renewal agreed as of yet. Senesi’s deal with Bournemouth expires at the end of the current season, which could make him an attractive and relatively affordable option in the upcoming market.

Senesi, capped three times by Argentina, is drawing interest from a host of clubs across Europe, including Juventus, Roma, Chelsea, Brighton, Everton and Crystal Palace. Dortmund, though, can offer Champions League football, a prominent role and potentially a strong signing bonus as they look to strengthen a back line that could see changes in the coming months.

With Niklas Süle expected to depart when his contract expires and Emre Can yet to commit to fresh terms, BVB’s need for defensive reinforcements is clear regardless of what happens with Schlotterbeck.
