The Green Bay Packers are coming off another promising regular season, only to end in an early playoff exit. Jordan Love and the young offensive core around him have developed great chemistry together, but still need to take the next step to become Super Bowl contenders.
Today it was reported that they’ll be retaining one of their own in a more defined role.

Green Bay is promoting Luke Getsy to quarterbacks coach, according to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.
Getsy, who previously served as offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders, returned to the Packers in 2025 as a senior assistant. He now replaces Sean Mannion, who left to become the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Luke Getsy’s Path Back to Green Bay
Getsy has strong ties to the Packers organization:
He began his NFL coaching career in Green Bay as an offensive quality control coach (2014–2018) under Mike McCarthy.
After stints with the Bears (as QB coach and later OC) and Raiders (OC in 2024), he came back to Green Bay last season in a senior assistant role.
The move to quarterbacks coach puts him in a more hands-on position working directly with Jordan Love and any young QBs the team adds this offseason.

The Packers are looking to build on Jordan Love’s development after a solid but inconsistent 2025 season. Getsy’s familiarity with the organization and previous experience coaching young quarterbacks (including Caleb Williams in Chicago) makes him a logical internal promotion.
Head coach Matt LaFleur has shown strong loyalty to coaches with prior Packers experience, and this hire continues that trend as the team fine-tunes its passing game for the upcoming season.
Fan Reactions to the Luke Getsy Hire
The news drew mixed reactions on social media:
Many Bears fans mocked the move, referencing Getsy’s tenure as Chicago’s OC with comments like “Good luck with that lol” and “The cockroach always finds a way to live on.”
Packers supporters were more optimistic, noting Getsy’s familiarity with the system and his prior work in Green Bay.
Others pointed out the irony of Getsy bouncing between teams but ultimately returning “home.”
This hire is part of the ongoing NFL coaching carousel as teams finalize their 2026 staffs ahead of the league year and draft. The Packers continue to reshape their offensive coaching group after losing Mannion to the Eagles.
The story is developing. Stay tuned for the official announcement from the Packers and more details on how Getsy’s promotion impacts Jordan Love’s development.
