Collin Sexton lost more than just the game.
The Chicago Bulls guard, 27, will now be out $35,000 after making an obscene gesture on the court during his team's 123-115 defeat to the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, Feb. 9.
In the second half of the game, Sexton flipped the bird after he missed a free throw when Chicago was down 84-89. He pointed his middle finger up at the rim after it failed to enter the bucket.

He went 1-of-2 at the line.
Whether Sexton's gesture was made out of frustration or not, the NBA deemed it worthy of consequence.
NBA Communications posted a statement on its social media accounts the day after the game. It outlined the details of the incident and the punishment Sexton will face as a result.
"Chicago Bulls guard Collin Sexton has been fined $35,000 for making an inappropriate gesture on the playing court, it was announced today by James Jones, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations," their statement read.

"The incident occurred with 1:31 remaining in the third quarter of the Bulls' 123-115 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Feb. 9 at Barclays Center," the statement concluded.
Sexton, who has yet to comment on his behavior, posted 21 points off the bench in the loss.
The game against the Nets marked Sexton's debut with the team after he was acquired on Feb. 4.

The 2018 first-round draft pick was in his eighth NBA season at the time of the trade, having previously played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Utah Jazz before his brief stint with the Charlotte Hornets.
His time in Charlotte lasted less than a full season.
