Tenor Aaron Pegram Has Died

Tenor **Aaron Pegram,** a longtime member of the ensemble of the **Semperoper Dresden,** passed away unexpectedly in Dresden on Sunday, February 8.

Pegram began his operatic career in 2003 at the Orlando Opera, and he went on to perform at the Houston Grand Opera, the Santa Fe Opera, and the New York City Opera, among other companies. He joined the Semperoper Dresden ensemble in the 2009/10 season.

Over his seventeen seasons with the company, Pegram performed more than sixty roles in almost fifty different productions. His most recent appearances included prominent roles in operas such as Prokofiev's _The Love for Three Oranges,_ Mozart's _The Abduction from the Seraglio_ and _The Magic Flute_, Tchaikovsky's _Eugene_ _Onegin, and_ Puccini's _Turandot_ and _Madama Butterfly._

"Aaron Pegram was part of our artistic family for many years," said Semperoper Dresden Artistic Director Nora Schmid. "With his warmth, his extraordinary versatility, and his humor, he left a lasting mark on the Semperoper. His sudden death has left us stunned. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family."

The company dedicated its performance of _The Magic Flute_ on February 11 to Pegram's memory.
